The Value of a Fresh Perspective

When managers are in the daily grind, working alongside their team, it can be difficult to come up with new fresh perspectives. It is important to view things from all perspectives and to always try to see things in different lights as that is when innovation happens. Here are two ways for managers to help themselves, and their team members, keep their viewpoints fresh:
  1. They can invite outsiders such as members from a different department (from all levels of the organizations) and have a group conversation with them to hear different perspectives on any particular situation.
  2. Managers can schedule an offsite meeting for team members where they can have frank conversations about the team goals. And because they are not sitting at their their desks, bogged down by daily tasks, they can and hopefully come up with fresh ideas and viewpoints.
