How to re-engage unenthusiastic team members

Team members sometimes become disengaged from their work. In can happen for different reasons, but it is important for managers to address it immediately. Here are a couple of tips managers can use:
  1. Managers should meet with the disengaged team member to better understand why they've disengaged from their work.
  2. Managers should act on the information given to them, and to try and re-engage the team member.
  3. Managers can and sometimes need to let the team member be, as that is what they require.
  4. Managers should reach out to the team member to get their opinion on a challenge to try and make the team member feel productive and involved.
  5. Managers should give the team member a special (perhaps a personal, pet) project to work on.
Managers should, as soon as they notice that a team member has disengaged, approach the team member. As, letting the team member be, without addressing him/her can only make it worst.
